{"id":313,"date":"2016-11-08T12:18:20","date_gmt":"2016-11-08T10:18:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lingart.elte.hu\/?p=313"},"modified":"2017-08-11T15:13:24","modified_gmt":"2017-08-11T13:13:24","slug":"eloadasaink-a-beszedkutatas-2016-konferencian","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/lingart.elte.hu\/en\/eloadasaink-a-beszedkutatas-2016-konferencian\/","title":{"rendered":"Our presentations at Speech Research 2016 (Besz\u00e9dkutat\u00e1s 2016)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Our group members presented several talks on various topics on the Speech Research 2016 Conference (Besz\u00e9dkutat\u00e1s 2016) at the Institute for Linguistics, MTA (Hungarian Academy of Sciences), Budapest.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tam\u00e1s talked about ultrasound tongue contour tracking. He introduced several softwares, and compared them with respect to their advances and limitations. He also presented his conjoint work with G\u00e9za N\u00e9meth (BME TMIT) on speech synthesis. In their talk they\u00a0emphasized the importance of modelling voiceless speech sounds in TTS systems and\u00a0they introduced a new method for solving this problem in TTS. They also presented the results of a perception experiment which aimed at the evaluation of the newly \u00a0created TTS system. Tam\u00e1s also held a demonstration on ultrasound systems: he presented the\u00a0operation of the ultrasound and its applications in phonetics and speech technology.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Alexandra and Tam\u00e1s presented a study concerning the effect of irregular phonation on the evaluation of the speaker together with\u00a0Karolina Tak\u00e1cs (ELTE BTK).<\/p>\n<p>There is still many open questions regarding the realization of the most frequent and multifunctional Hungarian discourse marker <em>h\u00e1t<\/em> (literally: &#8216;well&#8217;). In their talk Alexandra and Ilona Csilla D\u00e9r (KRE) analyzed the prosodic structure of this discourse marker with respect to its functions in the discourse.<\/p>\n<p>In high-pitched soprano singing, vowel production and the production of high pitch are in apparent conflict, thus vowel production in soprano singing is currently a hot topic in speech research. Andrea gave a talk about some new results on the articulation of high-pitched Hungarian vowels which was obtained in\u00a0a 2-year project funded by TKA and DAAD. The project focused on the articulation of sung vowels in Hungarian and German and included Andrea, Alexandra, M\u00e1rton\u00a0Bart\u00f3k (ELTE BTK), Julianna Jankovics (ELTE BTK), Zs\u00f3fia Weidl (ELTE BTK), Reinhold Greisbach (Universit\u00e4t zu K\u00f6ln) and Michelle Meier (Universit\u00e4t zu K\u00f6ln).
