Between 16 and 19 October, Alexandra and Andrea participated in the 11th International Seminar on Speech Production ISSP 2017 in Tianjin, China.
They presented three studies at the meeting. In the first, they reported on our results concerning two possible facilitators of word initial irregular phonation, namely vowel quality, and speech rate.
In another oral presentation Alexandra introduced the findings they obtained together with Tekla and Karolina Takács (ELTE) on irregular phonation in teenagers and adults.
Finally, the findings of a joint project were also presented which were obtained in a longer research collaboration between Alexandra, Andrea, Márton, Julianna Jankovics (ELTE), and Zsófia Weidl (ELTE) on the one hand, and some associates of the University of Cologne, Reinhold Greisbach, and Michelle Meier on the other (the project was supported by the TKA and the DAAD). In this presentation they introduced their comprehensive results on the articulatory strategies of soprano singers at high pitch in a cross-linguistic comparison, gathered by the use of electromagnetic articulography.
